ace clot extraction device

Ace (Penumbra, Inc., Alameda, CA) is a next-generation clot extraction device that uses aspiration to engage and remove blood clots that cause acute ischemic stroke. Ace has the ability to extract large, organized clots intact, resulting in more complete revascularization.

Ace features a large aspiration lumen (0.068-inch, proximal; 0.06-inch, distal) to provide powerful clot-extraction capability. With 12 polymer transition zones and a unique construction that leverages breakthrough technology in materials science, Ace enables physicians to bring powerful clot extraction capability directly to the occlusion. As a result, adjunctive devices are used only if needed.

“I am now able to get to the clot more quickly and remove it more completely than ever before,” said Blaise Baxter, MD, FRCPC, Director of Interventional Services at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
