FDA Clears KA Medical's Dr. Amplatz Micro Plug

 

May 31, 2019—KA Medical, LLC announced FDA clearance and the United States launch for its Dr. Amplatz Micro Plug peripheral vascular embolization device.

The Dr. Amplatz Micro Plug is the newest innovation created by Kurt Amplatz, MD. The device is indicated for arterial embolization in the peripheral vasculature and is available in sizes of 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm. It features a micro plug device that is collapsed in a loader attached to a flexible delivery wire, a microcatheter, and accessories that provide controlled delivery with the ability to reposition and recapture before release.

Dr. Amplatz commented in the announcement, “I am very pleased to receive FDA clearance of my latest product." The device is currently under review for CE Mark approval in Europe.
