Vesalio Expands International Distribution of NeVa Thrombectomy System

September 16, 2020—Vesalio LLC announced it has executed additional exclusive distribution agreements in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East that expand market coverage in 53 countries for the company’s NeVa neurovascular thrombectomy system for first-pass recanalization in acute ischemic stroke. Additionally, Vesalio has broadened its training programs to include NeVa Induction Webinars to support the onboarding of stroke centers in the expanded markets.

The company further noted that findings from a multicenter, real-life study of an initial clinical experience with the company’s NeVa thrombectomy device demonstrated favorable first-pass recanalization rates in acute stroke patients. The study was published by Cetin K. Akpinar, MD, et al online in Interventional Neurology.

“The data from this study [are] particularly compelling as the high rate of first-pass success was achieved largely without the use of balloon guide catheters, which demonstrates the effectiveness and versatility of the NeVa platform,” commented Diane Demet Tangun, Vice President, Market Development, at Vesalio in the press release.

“Enhancing virtual training was necessary given the limitations posed by the pandemic and the desire of new physicians to utilize Vesalio’s Drop Zone technology. The NeVa first-pass recanalization rates attained by physicians continue to impress and drive new interest.”

William von Brendel, Vice President, International Business, stated in Vesalio’s announcement, “The expansion of the NeVa product line and impressive clinical data are driving strong interest from top distribution companies globally, accelerating our growth momentum. We expect to add additional markets by the end of 2020 and into 2021 as we approach United States FDA clearance.”
