Vascutek and Bolton Medical Merge as Terumo Aortic
April 23, 2018—Vascutek Ltd. and Bolton Medical, Inc., subsidiaries of Terumo Corporation of Japan, have combined into a single business, known as Terumo Aortic, to grow its presence in the global aortic and vascular implants market. Terumo acquired Vascutek in 2002 and Bolton Medical in 2017.
As a developer of devices to treat aortic disease, Terumo Aortic will have a combined revenue of approximately $200 million and more than 1,100 employees worldwide. The primary research and manufacturing facilities will remain in Glasgow, Scotland, and Sunrise, Florida. During the past year, Vascutek and Bolton Medical have consolidated their complementary offerings and have created an integrated research and innovation strategy for Terumo Aortic.
The combined business offers a portfolio of surgical grafts for abdominal, cardiothoracic, and peripheral applications, as well as hybrid and catheter-based stent graft systems for abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms.
