Impress Hydrophilic- Coated Catheters
The advantages of the Impress peripheral
catheters (Merit Medical Systems,
Inc., South Jordan, UT) are now available
in the United States and Europe with the
added benefit of Legato hydrophilic coating.
According to the company, the
Impress peripheral catheter line has a
stainless steel braided shaft construction
designed to provide excellent torsional
torque. The tapered tip is designed to
seek the ostium of the vessel to be visualized.
The new Legato hydrophilic coating
is designed to reduce friction for
smoother navigation through tortuous anatomy, the company stated. The
hydrophilic coating is resistant to abrasion and is designed to maintain lubricity through the procedure.
