AccessClosure to Distribute the Flash Ostial System Dual-Balloon Angioplasty Catheter
October 8, 2013—AccessClosure, Inc. (Mountain View, CA) announced an exclusive agreement with Ostial Corporation (Mountain View, CA) to distribute the Flash Ostial System dual-balloon angioplasty catheter in the United States. The Flash Ostial System is designed to help overcome the challenges of aorto-ostial stenting and complements AccessClosure's Mynx product family of vascular closure devices. AccessClosure is presenting its portfolio of devices at the VIVA 2013: Vascular Interventional Advances conference on October 8–11 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Noting the challenge of treating ostial lesions, Richard Kovach, MD, commented in the company's press release, “The dual-balloon design of the Flash Ostial System is an exciting treatment option for ostial disease. Flash conforms to the ostium to enable excellent stent apposition, which is important for coverage of the disease and for preserving reaccess to the treated vessel.” Dr. Kovach is Chair of Interventional Cardiology and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, New Jersey.
