AI-Stroke Raises Funds for Pre-CT Stroke Triage Technology

November 24, 2025—AI-Stroke, a France-based Software-as-a-Medical-Device (SaMD) company using artificial intelligence (AI) to develop an “AI neurologist” for pre-CT stroke triage, announced the completion of a $4.6 million seed round. The company stated that the funds will support AI-Stroke’s upcoming FDA regulatory pathway and multisite clinical studies across leading United States stroke centers.

The funding was led by Heka, the BrainTech-focused vehicle of Newfund, a venture capital firm. Participation also included prominent angel investors and Bpifrance, advised the company.

As noted in the press release, AI-Stroke seeks to turn any smartphone or tablet into a rapid stroke-assessment tool. With the technology, paramedics or triage nurses record a 30-second video; the AI analyzes facial symmetry, arm movement, and speech to detect stroke signs within seconds—before hospital CT imaging.

The company also announced the addition of four stroke experts to its Medical Advisory Board: Gregory W. Albers, MD; Professor Gary Ford, FRCP, FMedSci; Sean Savitz, MD; Pankajavalli Ramakrishnan, MD.
