Anaconda Closes Financing to Support ATHENA Trial of ANA Funnel Catheter

September 23, 2026—Anaconda Biomed, a developer of a portfolio of thrombectomy catheters based on its core funnel catheter technology platform, announced the closing of a $56 million financing round with participation from new and existing investors.

According to the company, the proceeds will support product development and clinical work, including completion of the ongoing the ATHENA pivotal investigational device exemption study. The prospective, randomized, 327-patient trial is intended to evaluate the safety and performance of the Anaconda ANA funnel catheter for advanced neurovascular access.

Anaconda advised that the financing round was led by Omega Funds with continued participation from Asabys Sabadell Asabys II, Ysios Capital, and CDTI (through its SICC Innvierte). Additionally, a new investor is Spain’s coinvestment fund, FOCO, which is managed by COFIDES.

The company stated that the ANA funnel catheter platform is an endovascular technology that combines aspiration power with flow arrest and flow reversal to address clot retrieval, fragmentation, and downstream embolization.

Anaconda’s product portfolio will include supplementary tools such as stent retrievers, sheaths, and guidewires designed to complement the use of the funnel catheter technology and pave the way for additional clinical applications. The company is developing products built on the funnel catheter technology, spanning mechanical thrombectomy, aspiration-first stroke treatment, and carotid interventions, including the ANA5, ANA6, ANA8, and the Conda stent retriever, noted the press release.

The ANA funnel catheter is an investigational device in the United States that is limited by United States law to investigational use, advised the company. In June 2025, Anaconda announced that the ANA5 funnel catheter received CE Mark approval.
