AngioDynamics Launches 90-cm Kit for VenaCure EVLT System

May 26, 2011—AngioDynamics, Inc. (Queensbury, NY) announced the launch of the 90-cm NeverTouch procedure kit for its NeverTouch gold-tipped laser fiber and VenaCure EVLT (endovenous laser treatment) system. The kit features a longer Tre-Sheath introducer to gain vascular access above the ankle for treating varicose veins that extend below the knee. The new kit joins the company's line of existing NeverTouch kit lengths of 25, 45, and 65 cm.

According to AngioDynamics, the NeverTouch tip features a glass weld at the distal tip of a 600-µm fiber, resulting in an effective fiber diameter of 905 µm and lowering the actual power density at the tip by 56% from that of a standard bare-tip, 600-µm fiber. The company stated that this provides a homogeneous ablation with less focal charring of the vein wall that is typically seen with bare-tip fibers. In addition, the gold-jacketed tip provides tip visibility under ultrasound imaging and eliminates chances of inadvertent fiber tip contact with the vein wall, improving patient safety and comfort.
