Aptus Endosystems Appoints Bart E. Muhs, MD, PhD, as Chief Medical Officer

April 1, 2014Aptus Endosystems, Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) announced the appointment of Bart E. Muhs, MD, PhD, to the position of Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Muhs is Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, where he serves as Co-Director, Endovascular Surgery, and Clinical Director, Vascular Surgery. He also practices vascular surgery and endovascular interventions at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Aptus Endosystems is focused on medical device solutions for endovascular aneurysm repair.

In Aptus’ press release, Dr. Muhs commented, “There has long been a need for further innovation in the area of aneurysm repair. I look forward to working with Aptus in their continued pursuit to improve long-term outcomes and quality of life for patients undergoing vascular procedures.”

Dr. Muhs, who has more than 15 years of experience in the medical field with a focus on vascular and endovascular surgery, completed his medical training at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and his residency at New York University Medical Center. He completed his vascular surgery fellowship at New York University Medical Center and obtained his PhD at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. Additionally, Dr. Muhs was a United States Fulbright Scholar at the University of Yaounde I in Yaounde, Cameroon. Dr. Muhs is frequently invited as teaching faculty to vascular and endovascular symposia around the world and has authored more than 100 published articles in the fields of vascular and endovascular surgery, noted Aptus Endosystems.
