ArjoHuntleigh Launches Dopplex Ability for ABI Measurements
October 14, 2013—ArjoHuntleigh (Addison, IL) announced the launch of the Dopplex Ability, an ankle-brachial index (ABI) screening device.
According to the company, the Dopplex Ability is a one-button-push medical device that allows clinicians to perform a 3-minute test with similar accuracy as the classic method, while reducing the time it takes to perform ABI measurements by up to 75%.
ArjoHuntleigh stated that the Dopplex Ability features a new two-chamber cuff system that incorporates the company's duo sense pneumatic technology to measure systolic pressures using volume plethysmography. One chamber is used to occlude the vessel, while the second distal chamber is used to sense the returning signals, allowing four limbs to be measured simultaneously. The Dopplex Ability has demonstrated agreement between its unrested measurements and the traditional rested Doppler measurements, even with diabetic patients who can be difficult to measure, noted the company.
