Artificial Intelligence Company Viz.ai Designated as AHA/ASA Get With the Guidelines Compatible Vendor

November 15, 2018—Viz.ai, Inc., an applied artificial intelligence (AI) company, announced that it has been designated as a compatible vendor for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) Get With the Guidelines (GWTG)—Stroke registry.

As a compatible vendor, Viz.ai aims to improve quality metrics in the stroke workflow by facilitating fast and accurate detection and referral of large vessel occlusion (LVO) strokes and enabling better collaboration between the stroke teams at comprehensive and referral hospitals. The FDA has cleared Viz.ai's AI-based computer-aided triage and notification system.

According to Viz.ai, the company's suite of deep-learning–applied AI and workflow software automatically detects and directly alerts on-call stroke specialists about suspected LVOs across their entire stroke network in minutes. The Viz LVO system combines with Viz CTP's automated CT perfusion software, Viz View's mobile viewing, and Viz Hub's HIPAA-compliant messaging software to augment a stroke team's capability to proactively identify and triage a potential stroke.

The AHA/ASA GWTG–Stroke program currently supports health care professionals in more than 2,000 hospitals and is designed to improve stroke care by promoting consistent adherence to the most up-to-date research and scientific publications, clinical tools and resources, quality improvement field staff support, patient education resources, and continuous quality improvement performance feedback reporting.

Raul Nogueira, MD, commented in the company's announcement, “The inclusion of Viz.ai as an AHA/ASA GTWG-compatible vendor demonstrates the potential role that applied AI and workflow software has in providing consistent quality care. Viz LVO serves as a fully automated stroke alert system that identifies suspected LVO patients who may be eligible for life-changing mechanical thrombectomy.” Dr. Nogueira is Professor of Neurology at Emory University and Director of Neuroendovascular Service at Emory's Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
