Avinger Launches Upgraded Lightbox Imaging Console
October 25, 2016—Avinger, Inc. announced the United States launch of an enhanced version of the company’s Lightbox imaging console. Lightbox provides a dual display of images to physicians using Avinger’s Lumivascular system of image-guided atherectomy and chronic total occlusion recanalization devices for the treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD).
According to the company, the upgraded Lightbox L250 console is designed to be more intuitive, provide sharper imaging, and reduce startup times before procedures begin. The enhancements include digital video output, touchscreen interface, and simplified software workflow.
Lumivascular technology allows physicians to see from inside the artery during a directional atherectomy procedure by using optical coherence tomography (OCT) that is displayed on the Lightbox console. With the real-time OCT images generated from inside the artery, Lumivascular allows accurate navigation of devices to treat PAD lesions without exposing health care workers and patients to ionizing radiation, stated Avinger.
