Boston Scientific Completes Purchase of Bayer's Interventional Business

September 2, 2014—Boston Scientific Corporation announced that it has completed its previously announced agreement to purchase the interventional business of Bayer AG. Plans for the acquisition were first announced in May 2014.

According to Boston Scientific, the acquisition of Bayer Interventional adds products to treat peripheral vascular disease, including the AngioJet thrombectomy system and the Fetch 2 aspiration catheter, which are used in endovascular procedures to remove blood clots from blocked arteries and veins. Additionally, the Jetstream atherectomy system has been acquired in this transaction, which is used to remove plaque and thrombi from diseased arteries.
