Concentric Announces Initiation of TREVO Study in Europe

September 30, 2010—Concentric Medical, Inc. (Mountain View, CA) announced the start of the TREVO (Thrombectomy Revascularization of Large Vessel Occlusions in Acute Ischemic Stroke) study. Professor Olav Jansen, MD, and Professor Nils Wahlgren, MD are coprincipal investigators of the study. Juan Macho, MD, and Jordi Blasco, MD, enrolled the first patients, who were successfully treated at the Hospital Clinic de Barcelona, Spain.

According to Concentric, the TREVO study is a European, multicenter, prospective trial designed to assess the ability of the Trevo system with the company's Stentriever technology to remove the thrombosis that causes strokes and to restore blood flow to the brain. Functional outcomes at 90 days will also be collected.

“The Trevo system represents a new treatment option for ischemic stroke patients,” commented Dr. Macho. “It is easy and fast to use and this is essential in the acute stroke setting because a patient's brain is at risk. I have found the Trevo to be remarkably effective."
