Cook Launches Zilver PTX in Australia to Treat SFA Disease

May 21, 2012—Cook Medical (Bloomington, IN) announced the Australian launch of the Zilver PTX paclitaxel-eluting peripheral stent for treating lesions in the superficial femoral artery. The launch follows registration of the device with Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration.

The company advised that the Zilver PTX is under US Food and Drug Administration review and is not available for sale in the United States. In 2009, the device received CE Mark approval and is available for sale in the European Union. It was approved in Japan in March 2012 and is also available in Brazil and other international markets.
