Cook Medical Introduces 140-mm–Long Zilver PTX Stent

August 8, 2018—Cook Medical has introduced the 140-mm–long Zilver PTX paclitaxel-eluting peripheral stent in both 6-mm and 7-mm diameters in the United States. Zilver PTX is designed to treat peripheral arterial disease in the superficial femoral artery.

According to the company, the 140-mm–long stents will enable physicians—when applicable— to treat lesions up to 270 mm in length with only two stents. The longer length comes after the FDA approved an expanded indication to treat total lesion lengths up to 300 mm per patient. The FDA also approved an extended shelf life of 2 years for the product, stated Cook Medical.
