Cook Medical Introduces Approach Authority Workhorse Wire Guide
February 1, 2021—Cook Medical announced that the Approach Authority workhorse microwire guide is now commercially available in the United States and Canada.
According to the company, Approach Authority is designed as an 0.018-inch diameter workhorse wire guide. The device can be used for multiple purposes in the same procedure. In a situation where a physician might traditionally use several different wire guides, physicians can use this single wire guide to provide both support and finesse during a procedure.
Cook Medical stated that Approach Authority combines resilient nitinol tip technology with a hydrophilic coating. This design offers another option to physicians placing balloon dilatation catheters during percutaneous transluminal angioplasty in peripheral arteries. Physicians can deliver a variety of devices across this wire to offer a broader range of treatment options for patients.
