Cordis to Distribute Ostial Pro Stent Positioning System
November 30, 2010—Cordis Corporation (Bridgewater, NJ) announced that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Ostial Solutions, LLC (Kalamazoo, MI) for the worldwide distribution of the Ostial Pro aorto-ostial stent positioning system for coronary and peripheral applications. The Ostial Pro has received marketing clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration. It is currently being sold exclusively in the United States by Ostial Solutions. Cordis plans to assume worldwide distribution of the Ostial Pro in the first half of 2011.
According to Cordis, the Ostial Pro provides visual and tactile identification of the true ostium, which can help make precise stent placement easier, safer, and more predictable. The technology may reduce the need for additional stents and may reduce the risk of repeat interventions for restenosis.
