Dr. Peter Kan to Serve as SNIS President for 2026-2027

August 25, 2026—The Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery (SNIS) announced that Peter Kan, MD, will serve as the 2026-2027 President of the society.

According to SNIS, Dr. Kan is an endovascular neurosurgeon serving as Professor and Robert L. Moody Sr. Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.

The SNIS press release noted that Dr. Kan pursued neurosurgical training at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada before starting his endovascular fellowship at the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York.

After his fellowship, he joined the faculty at University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. At South Florida, he served as Director of Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery. He was subsequently recruited as Associate Professor and Director of Cerebrovascular Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

SNIS also announced that Justin Fraser, MD, an endovascular neurosurgeon at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, is now President-Elect of SNIS. Jonathan Grossberg, MD, an endovascular neurosurgeon at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, was elected Vice President.
