Distribution Agreement for Coherex FlatStent EF PFO Closure System Announced

September 22, 2009—Coherex Medical, Inc. (Salt Lake City, UT) announced that the company has entered into a multiyear distribution agreement with Abbott Vascular (Santa Clara, CA) for the Coherex FlatStent EF patent foramen ovale (PFO) percutaneous closure system. Under terms of the agreement, Coherex will provide marketing, sales, and distribution rights to Abbott for the CE Mark–approved Coherex FlatStent EF in all countries worldwide except for the United States and Japan. Coherex Medical will manufacture the FlatStent EF PFO closure system at its facility in Salt Lake City. In July 2009, Coherex announced that the FlatStent EF had received CE Mark clearance for closing PFO. Coherex plans to conduct additional clinical trials in the future, designed to lead to eventual approval in the United States and Japan, the company stated.
