EuroPCR 2020 Is Canceled

May 5, 2020—The EuroPCR 2020 course directors have announced the cancellation of the conference, which was scheduled for May 19–22 in Paris, France. The directors cited the sanitary and legal environment and, in particular, the decisions of the French government barring public gatherings for events exceeding 5,000 participants as a consequence of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The course directors stated, “We remain committed to working with our program committee to swiftly provide the community with a full update on late-breaking trials and other essential educational content. Details of the dates and platform upon which this independent medical education will be delivered shall be made known in the coming weeks.”

The EuroPCR announcement provides a questions and answers section from the organizing committee to address the concerns of registrants.

Notably, to explain the late date of the cancellation they stated, “For practical and financial reasons, we have needed to adapt to the legal framework in order to safeguard the interests of the vast network of individuals and organizations (clinicians and allied healthcare professionals, industry partners, hotels, audiovisual providers, caterers, and booth builders, amongst others), whose sustainability through the COVID crisis is at stake.”

EuroPCR, which is the official annual meeting of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions, has created an online COVID-19 Resource hub. The next meeting is now scheduled for May 18–21, 2021, at the Palais des Congrès in Paris.
