European Launch Begins for QXMédical's Q50 Plus Stent Graft Balloon Catheter

August 20, 2015—QXMédical, LLC announced that its Q50 Plus stent graft balloon catheter will be distributed in Italy and Switzerland by CrossMed S.R.L., which is based in Torino, Italy. QXMédical is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, with research, development, and manufacturing facilities in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Q50 Plus device has been available in the United States since 2012.

According to QXMédical, the Q50 Plus is designed to assist with stent modeling and expansion during abdominal and thoracic endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, as well as with general occlusion. The Q50 Plus is available with a balloon diameter range of 10 to 50 mm and catheter lengths of 65 and 100 cm. The device features a flexible tip to assist with tracking through challenging anatomy and crossing stents. The catheter is compatible with 0.035-inch guidewires and low-profile 12-F introducer sheaths.

In the company’s press release, David Swanson, MD, an interventional radiologist at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, commented, “The available 65-cm length lets me use wires of manageable length. I can balloon stent graft seal zones from 10- to 50-mm diameter with one compliant balloon. It’s so robust that I trust its durability in my toughest cases.”
