First BTK Procedures Performed With Stentys Self-Apposing DES

January 28, 2016—Stentys announced the successful completion of the first interventions using the company’s self-apposing, self-expanding drug-eluting stent (DES) to treat below-the-knee (BTK) arterial disease. The procedures were performed during two live-case sessions broadcast at LINC 2016, the Leipzig Interventional Course held January 26–29 in Leipzig, Germany.

According to the company, several overlapping Stentys stents were successfully implanted to treat the long lesions of the lower leg arteries in patients with critical limb ischemia. The two procedures were performed by the Leipzig University Hospital angiology team of Andrej Schmidt, MD; Sven Bräunlich, MD; and Matthias Ulrich, MD.
