Getinge’s iCast Covered Stent System Approved as Bridging Stent
July 14, 2025—Getinge announced that its iCast covered stent system has received FDA premarket approval for a new indication. The iCast device is now available as a bridging stent for the treatment of patients with aneurysmal disease.
According to the company, this new indication enables physicians to preserve blood flow between a branch vessel and an endovascular graft that is approved for use with the iCast covered stent. Getinge advised that the iCast product, now with its expanded bridging stent indication, will continue to be distributed by Cook Medical.
In March 2024, Getinge entered into a distribution agreement with Cook Medical under which Cook assumed sales, marketing, and distribution responsibilities for the iCast covered stent system in the United States. In March 2023, Getinge announced FDA premarket approval for the iCast expandable polytetrafluoroethylene-covered stent system for the treatment of patients with iliac artery occlusive disease.
