Gore Presents 2012 European Pioneers in Performance Awards in London

April 16, 2012—Gore & Associates (Flagstaff, AZ) announced that the European recipients of the company-sponsored Pioneers in Performance Awards were honored at the Charing Cross Symposium in London. The biennial award acknowledges exceptional work in the field of vascular and endovascular therapy, including aortic and lower-limb bypass and dialysis access surgery.

The award for “Commitment to Ongoing Learning” was presented to Frans L. Moll, MD, Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery of the University Medical Center Utrecht and Head of Vascular Surgery, University Medical Center, Utrecht, the Netherlands. Vincent Riambau, MD, was recognized for “Dedication to Sharing Knowledge with Peers and Patients.” Dr. Riambau is Chief of Vascular Surgery Division at the Thorax Institute, Hospital Clinic of the University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain.

Janet Powell, MD, Professor of Vascular Biology & Medicine at Imperial College, London, UK, was honored with the award for “Dedication to Creating Consensus within the Medical Community.” The award for “Dedication to Analysis of Clinical Outcomes” award was bestowed on A. Ross Naylor, MD, who is Professor of Vascular Surgery at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester, United Kingdom.

The nominees for the United States Pioneers In Performance can be reviewed and votes cast on the Pioneers in Performance Web site until October 31, 2012. Winners will be honored in November during a special reception in New York City at the 2012 VEITHsymposium.
