August 4, 2026—Hyperfine, Inc. announced the publication of multiple studies that provide support for the company’s Swoop imaging system across many care settings beyond its initial use in critical care.

According to the company, the Swoop portable ultra–low-field MRI systems are FDA cleared for brain imaging of patients of all ages.

The publications illustrate that the Swoop system is an emerging approach to stroke imaging, bringing value beyond the critical care environment and into the emergency department and stroke centers. They build on the evidence to support low-field portable MRI in the neurosurgical and stroke treatment sites of care, noted Hyperfine.

In the Journal of Neurosurgery, Devan Patel, MD, et al reported cases performed in an ambulatory neurosurgery center in which the Swoop system provided access to imaging immediately after endovascular neurosurgical procedures. The findings confirmed the absence of acute ischemic or intracranial hemorrhage, thus enabling same-day discharge, stated Hyperfine.

Additionally, a recently published collection of articles in Stroke demonstrated the value of low-field MRI across the stroke continuum, including prehospital stroke care, acute stroke, neurocritical care, and cerebral small vessel disease.
