Jupiter Endovascular Appoints Dr. Catalin Toma as Chief Medical Officer

August 13, 2026—Jupiter Endovascular Inc., announced the appointment of interventional cardiologist Catalin Toma, MD, as Chief Medical Officer. The newly created role has global scope, noted the company.

According to the company, Dr. Toma had extensive clinical and research experience across the structural heart and interventional landscape. He is Director of Interventional Cardiology for the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute; Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine; and leader of the Chronic Total Occlusion Program at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Toma served with Sameh Sayfo, MD, as Global Coprincipal Investigators for the SPIRARE II pivotal trial of the company’s Vertex thrombectomy system, which leverages Jupiter Endovascular’s TFX transforming fixation platform technology, in the treatment of patients with acute, intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism (PE). In May 2026, Dr. Toma presented results from the SPIRARE II trial.
