Merit Medical Acquires Biolife

May 20, 2025—Merit Medical Systems, Inc. announced that it has acquired Biolife Delaware, LLC. Under the merger transaction, Biolife has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Merit.

Biolife, headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, manufactures hemostatic devices under the brand names StatSeal and WoundSeal, advised the press release.

According to Merit, StatSeal works with the patient’s blood to rapidly form a protective seal over a percutaneous procedure site. Adding StatSeal to Merit’s hemostasis portfolio is intended to provide health care partners with an additional solution that complements a wide range of percutaneous procedures, including interventional radiology and cardiology, dialysis, electrophysiology, biopsy, and drainage.

The aggregate transaction consideration, paid in cash and assumption of Biolife liabilities, was approximately $120 million, stated Merit.
