New Sizing Options for Gore's Excluder AAA Stent Graft Approved in Europe

July 3, 2012—Gore & Associates (Flagstaff, AZ) announced CE Mark approval for the 23- and 27-mm-diameter sizes of the contralateral leg component of the Gore Excluder AAA endoprosthesis for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) by endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). The device is an endovascular stent graft that seals off the aneurysm and creates a new path for blood flow. The Excluder AAA endoprosthesis features the Gore C3 delivery system, which enables repositioning of the stent graft, stated the company.

“By adding new diameter options to the Gore Excluder device, patients with large iliac arteries can now be treated with fewer components,” commented vascular surgeon Michel Makaroun, MD, of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania. “This will simplify the EVAR procedure for these patients, widen its applicability, and reduce its costs.”
