Okami Raises Financing for Peripheral Vascular Occlusion Technology
October 21, 2024—Okami Medical announced the closing of a $32.5 million financing round that provides the company with capital to accelerate the development and commercialization of its catheter-based technologies for peripheral vascular occlusion.
According to Okami, the financing was led by new investor Vensana Capital and joined by existing investors U.S. Venture Partners, members of Okami’s Board of Directors, and other medical device industry veterans. Okami was launched by medical device incubator Inceptus Medical.
To date, the company has developed the Lobo (low-profile braided occluder) vascular occlusion system and the Sendero microcatheter.
Okami stated that the Lobo system is a single-device, one-and-done solution for occlusion of a wide range of peripheral arterial targets without the need for multiple embolic devices. It enables treatment of vessel ranges from 1.5 to 9 mm, with four sizes. Additionally, the Lobo system features the company’s HDBraid technology to create an occlusive pore structure that reduces blood flow and accelerates vessel closure, noted the company.
The company stated that the Sendero microcatheter is designed to provide smooth delivery of interventional devices with optimal trackability through tortuous peripheral vessels. The FDA-cleared device was built for the delivery of Lobo-3 and Lobo-5, advised Okami.
