Ostial Becomes Verge Medical and Acquires Crossfire’s Wavella Technology
March 17, 2025—Ostial Corporation, a California-based medical device company focused on aorto-ostial interventions, announced its new identity as Verge Medical. The change marks a strategic expansion in the coronary and peripheral interventional markets, with products offered in both the inpatient and office-based settings, noted the press release.
Additionally, the company announced the acquisition of the Wavella technology from Crossfire Medical. Wavella is a specialty infusion catheter for venous applications. The device employs a rotating sinusoidal wire that simultaneously delivers physician-specified agents to ensure comprehensive, segmental agent delivery in the peripheral vasculature.
Wavella is an investigational device and is not yet available for commercial use, advised Verge Medical.
The company’s first commercial product is the Flash aorto-ostial angioplasty system, which enables 360° lesion coverage for streamlined vessel reaccess and optimized outcomes.
“We are excited to launch Verge Medical as the next chapter in our company’s evolution,” stated Mike Buck, CEO of Verge Medical, in the company’s press release. “This acquisition expands our growing portfolio, reshaping the future of vascular interventions by enhancing coronary and peripheral treatments while optimizing procedural efficiency, safety, and patient outcomes.”
Buck continued, “Verge Medical is actively pursuing additional medical device innovations to expand its pipeline and advance its mission.”
