Otsuka Medical Devices Acquires Veryan Medical

December 13, 2018—Otsuka Medical Devices Co., Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of Otsuka Holdings Co., Ltd., and Veryan Medical Ltd. announced the completion of the acquisition of Veryan by Otsuka Medical Devices through its United Kingdom subsidiary, Otsuka Medical Devices UK Ltd. Otsuka Medical Devices is based in Tokyo, Japan. Veryan is headquartered in Horsham, United Kingdom.

The companies plan to collaborate on developing Veryan's Swirling Flow stents for use in the treatment of vascular disease. Veryan’s Research & Development operations in Galway, Ireland, will be retained by Otsuka Medical Devices and will play a key role in the continued development of the Swirling Flow technology.

On October 4, Veryan announced FDA approval for the BioMimics three-dimensional (3D) peripheral vascular stent. The BioMimics 3D device has also received European CE Mark approval.
