Penumbra Introduces Jet 7 Reperfusion Catheter at SNIS 2019

July 22, 2019—Penumbra, Inc. has announced the launch of its Jet 7 reperfusion catheter with Xtra Flex technology, the eighth generation of its family of products for the treatment of stroke due to large vessel occlusion. The announcement was made during the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery’s annual meeting held July 22–25 in Miami Beach, Florida.

According to the company’s announcement, the Jet 7 with Xtra Flex technology is used with the Penumbra Engine, which is fully integrated with the Penumbra system, an aspiration-based mechanical thrombectomy system that enables physicians to extract thrombus in acute ischemic stroke patients.

The Jet 7 catheter with Xtra Flex technology is designed to provide advanced trackability and navigation while maintaining the large 0.072-inch lumen. Powered by the Penumbra Engine, Jet 7 with Xtra Flex helps to maximize the thrombus removal force. According to Penumbra, the thrombus removal force is calculated based on catheter tip size and vacuum level of the aspiration source.
