Perflow Medical Announces Financing to Support Cerebral Aneurysm Technology; Progress With Stroke Platform
February 15, 2018—Perflow Medical has announced the closing of $12 million in financing aimed at supporting commercialization of its Stream Net device in Europe and other countries, as well as for submission of 510(k) review in the United States. The funding will also serve to support development of Perflow's Cerebral Net platform for aneurysm neck bridging and flow diversion.
Israeli-based Perflow also has a product in the acute ischemic stroke field. The Stream Dynamic Neuro-Thrombectomy Net was recently approved in Europe, and the company notes that 50 procedures have now been performed using the system.
“The Stream Net offers a new level of control that expands a physician’s options to respond in real-time. My early experience with the system has been positive, and I see it as a valuable addition to the market,” commented interventional neurologist Marc Ribó, MD, PhD, in the company's announcement. Dr. Ribó is with the Hospital Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona, Spain and was one of the first to use the device along with neuroradiologist Prof. Anastasios Mpotsaris, MD, PhD, from Uniklinikum Aachen, Germany. Prof. Mpotsaris commented on the Stream's unique braided net design's and device control in assisting with clot retention during revascularization.
