Phenox’s Preset Thrombectomy Device Cleared by FDA to Treat Acute Ischemic Stroke
February 2, 2023—Phenox Inc., a Wallaby Medical company, announced that its Preset thrombectomy device has received FDA clearance for use to treat acute ischemic stroke in the United States. The Preset product family has been available in Europe for more than 10 years.
According to Phenox, the Preset device is indicated to reduce disability in patients with persistent, proximal anterior circulation, large vessel occlusion, and smaller core infarcts who have first received thrombolytic therapy. The company noted that the device is designed to be easy to use and can be deployed quickly.
Phenox’s portfolio of products available in the United States includes a range of devices for the treatment of both hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke, advised the company.
In April 2022, Wallaby Medical, a company focused on developing and commercializing neurovascular interventional products for treating stroke, announced that it had acquired Germany-based Phenox GmbH. Wallaby Medical is based in California and China.
