Philips Expands Commercial Availability of LumiGuide Light-Based 3D Navigation Solution

December 1, 2025—Royal Philips announced the expanded commercial availability of its LumiGuide device guidance across Europe and the United States. LumiGuide is a real-time artificial intelligence (AI)–enabled light-based 3D navigation solution for image-guided therapy.

The wider commercial rollout was announced by Philips at RSNA 2025. It will be commercially available from January 2026 in key European markets and the United States. A limited market release of LumiGuide was conducted in late 2023, noted Philips.

According to the company, LumiGuide provides radiation-free navigation that allows physicians to visualize and guide devices inside the body using light instead of continuous x-rays. It is designed to integrate with Philips’ Azurion image-guided therapy platform.

“I have done over 160 fenestrated and branched aortic procedures with LumiGuide and have found that the system improves efficiency, reduces the procedure time, and reduces time on the fluoroscopy pedal to near zero,” commented Adam W. Beck, MD, in Philips’ press release. Dr. Beck is Professor and Director, Division of Vascular Surgery & Endovascular Therapy, University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama.

The company stated that LumiGuide is powered by Philips’ Fiber Optic RealShape (FORS) technology. FORS uses light to visualize the shape and position of LumiGuide wires and compatible endovascular catheters inside the body in real time and in three dimensions, during complex endovascular procedures, without the need for x-ray, noted the press release.
