RapidAI Launches Rapid Workflow for PE App Developed With Penumbra

June 24, 2021—RapidAI announced the availability of a mobile and web-based app designed to align hospital teams on the treatment of patients suspected of having a pulmonary embolism (PE).

The Rapid Workflow for PE app was developed by RapidAI with Penumbra, Inc. through a partnership announced in November 2020.

According to RapidAI, the Rapid Workflow for PE app helps hospital teams reduce time to treatment by providing access anywhere and anytime to CT pulmonary angiography images and workflow communication tools, improve care coordination by streamlining communication and accelerating PE team activation, and optimize protocols by collecting patient status data that teams can use to improve their risk stratification and patient care processes.

S. Jay Mathews, MD, Director, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Structural Heart, and PE response team (PERT) at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, commented on the app in RapidAI’s press release.

“Since the inception of our PERT team, we have been looking for ways to leverage advanced technologies to improve patient outcomes,” stated Dr. Mathews. “Collaborating with RapidAI has allowed us to utilize their platform, first used to streamline the workflow in stroke, and bring this technology into the PE space. RapidAI will allow us to advance diagnostics, treatment algorithms, and communications across multiple providers and facilities.”
