Roxwood Medical Adds Micro14es to MicroCross Catheter Platform
January 26, 2016—Roxwood Medical, Inc. announced the expansion of its MicroCross catheter platform with the addition of the Micro14es (extra support) catheter. Micro14es is an extension of the Micro14 catheter, designed for complex peripheral and coronary disease.
According to the company, the Micro14es provides enhanced guidewire support through challenging and tortuous anatomy with an extra supportive tip profile for greater pushability when crossing the target lesion. The MicroCross platform, which is compatible with Roxwood Medical’s CenterCross catheter, is composed of an ultra-low profile shaft featuring variable pitch braid technology and a state-of-the-art lubricious coating. These features are intended to provide superior trackability and guidewire support while accessing tortuous regions of the coronary and peripheral vasculature.
In Roxwood Medical’s press release, Jihad Mustapha, MD, of Metro Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan, commented, “I was impressed with how easily the new Micro14es was able to navigate small tortuous vessels in the patient’s foot. The Micro14 and Micro18 have become a core part of our critical limb ischemia toolkit and the Micro14es is a welcome addition. The team at Roxwood Medical continues to improve and innovate an already impressive portfolio of catheters to help us treat patients with such complex disease.”
