Scitech’s Giant S-AT Balloon Catheter for AAA and TAA Procedures Approved in Europe

September 24, 2021—Scitech Medical, which is headquartered in Brazil, announced that the company’s Giant S-AT balloon catheter has received European CE Mark approval. The Giant S-AT device is designed to assist in the expansion of a self-expanding endoprosthesis in the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) and thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA), and to temporarily occlude nondiseased blood vessels.

According to the company, the Giant S-AT is a compliant balloon catheter with a working diameter between 10 and 45 mm. The device features two radiopaque markers in the balloon to facilitate the positioning within the endoprosthesis lumen before inflation. The usable length of the catheter is 100 cm. It is designed for a guidewire of ≤ 0.038-inch (0.96-mm) diameter, advised Scitech.
