October 28, 2026—Siemens Healthineers announced the strategic focus of its ultrasound business is shifting to procedural imaging and image-guided therapy. The business will concentrate on cardiovascular interventions, software, artificial intelligence (AI), and partnerships that support physicians in guiding minimally invasive procedures for treatment of cancer, stroke, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative diseases.
According to Siemens, these changes will combine its Acuson Origin cardiovascular imaging platform with its strength in intracardiac echocardiography (ICE), its evolving software and AI capabilities, and its partnerships with cardiovascular device companies to support physicians in complex cardiovascular interventions. The company’s portfolio supports electrophysiology and structural heart interventions from two-dimensional imaging to real-time four-dimensional ICE.
As of October 12, 2026, the company is no longer selling general imaging ultrasound systems including the Acuson Sequoia, Redwood, Juniper, and Maple. The company will continue to provide service and support for all existing customers in its installed base honoring all contractual and regulatory obligations and providing full lifecycle support, including maintenance, software updates, and transducer availability, stated the press release.
