SIR Launches Mobile Application to Access Guidelines and Statements

April 1, 2021—The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) has launched the SIR Guidelines app as a source for the society’s published guidelines and statements. The mobile app was built by SIR volunteers, and the developer group was led by project directors Andrew J. Gunn, MD, and Alda L. Tam, MD.

According to the society, the SIR Guidelines app is free to use and allows health care workers to quickly access evidence-based recommendations in an easy-to-use, point-of-care format intended to simplify clinical decision-making. The initial release includes an interactive periprocedural recommendation calculator that generates scenario-specific anticoagulation and antibiotic recommendations based on the SIR consensus guidelines. Users can input medications and patient factors to generate recommendations tailored for patient and procedural bleeding risk.

SIR advised that the app will be continually updated to include new Clinical Practice Guidelines and tools to assist in clinical decision-making.

The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store here. Questions or feedback about the SIR Guidelines mobile application can be addressed to guidelines@sirweb.org.
