Stryker’s Inari Medical Launches Artix Thrombectomy System
March 6, 2025—Inari Medical announced the launch of its Artix thrombectomy system for arterial thromboembolism. According to the company, which is now part of Stryker, the device combines aspiration plus mechanical thrombectomy in an over-the-wire system that can aspirate and/or mechanically extract acute to chronic clots.
According to the company, the system features an aspiration-capable, 8-F, low-profile, trackable, kink-resistant sheath, available in 65- and 90-cm lengths. A covered nitinol mesh funnel provides temporary flow restriction to minimize the risk of arterial clot migration, stated Inari.
The Artix system, Inari’s first arterial device, builds on the success of the company’s venous thrombectomy devices, noted the press release.
The company advised that the first commercial procedure with the Artix system was performed in October 2024 by Jonathan Bowman, MD, Chief of Vascular Surgery at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut.
“The Artix thrombectomy system marks a significant advancement in peripheral arterial thromboembolism treatment,” commented Dr. Bowman in Inari’s press release. “With Artix, I finally have a solution that effectively addresses a wide range of clots while enabling me to maintain vessel access and retain control throughout the entire case. I expect Artix will take the place of open surgical repair in many of my arterial cases.”
On February 19, 2025, Stryker announced the completion of the acquisition of Inari Medical.
