Stryker’s Target Tetra Detachable Coil for Treating Small Aneurysms Cleared by FDA

Stryker's Target Tetra detachable coilDecember 15, 2022—Stryker announced FDA 510(k) clearance of the Target Tetra detachable coil, the latest addition to the company’s Target platform. The Target Tetra device, which is specifically designed to treat small aneurysms, combines a new tetrahedral shape and softness level.

According to the company, the delicate nature of small aneurysms makes the use of soft coils extremely important, but historically, soft coils have not had strong shape stability. The Target Tetra detachable coil’s tetrahedral shape is designed to frame small aneurysms with ease, while being the softest coil in the Target family.

“Target Tetra is very high performing and easy to use because the tetrahedral shape allows it to stay inside the aneurysm with minimal microcatheter manipulation,” commented interventional neuroradiologist Satoshi Tateshima, MD, in Stryker’s press release. “This will allow physicians of all skill sets to feel more confident when treating small aneurysms, which will help many patients.”
