Terumo Aortic’s Low-Profile Aortic Balloon Launched for Use With Treo and Relay Stent Grafts

December 8, 2021—Terumo Aortic announced the launch and first commercial case of the Aortic Balloon in the United States. The device assists physicians in the expansion of the aorta when using Treo and Relay stent grafts in endovascular aortic repair.

According to the company, the low-profile Aortic Balloon is a 10-F device providing inflation control and a broad balloon diameter range of up to 50 mm.

The first commercial use of the product was performed by Siddharth Patel, MD, at Northside Vascular Surgery in Atlanta, Georgia, during implantation of a Treo abdominal stent graft.

“The Aortic Balloon performed very well, with good inflation control, and rapid inflation and deflation,” commented Dr. Patel in Terumo Aortic’s press release. “Also, its low profile gave me the ability to utilize the 13-F leg-extension detachable sheath of Treo for stent-graft remodeling without exchanging sheaths.”
