Terumo Neuro WEB Evaluated in Ruptured and Unruptured Aneurysm Cohorts

September 1, 2026—Terumo Neuro, a wholly owned subsidiary of Terumo Corporation, announced two separate peer-reviewed publications reporting 1-year outcomes from the WISE study of the Woven EndoBridge (WEB) implant’s safety and long-term efficacy. The findings report distinct 1-year subgroup analyses: ruptured and unruptured intracranial aneurysms; both groups were treated with the Terumo Neuro WEB aneurysm embolization system, an intrasaccular treatment.

WISE included a total of 601 patients, including 143 patients with ruptured aneurysms and 449 patients with unruptured aneurysms. The study combines data from seven prospective, multicenter, single-arm, core lab–adjudicated, Good Clinical Practice–compliant studies conducted across Europe, North America, and Asia.

The studies were published in Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery (JNIS) on behalf of the WISE investigators.

The evaluation of patients with ruptured intracranial aneurysms was published in JNIS by Laurent Pierot, MD, et al.

In these patients, 1-year results demonstrated 0% rebleeding after WEB treatmen, 0% treatment-related mortality, 1.6% treatment-related morbidity, 87.5% adequate aneurysm occlusion (increasing to 93.5% in aneurysms measuring ≤ 6 mm), and 6.5% retreatment rate. Additionally, there was 97.2% technical success, including 100% technical success in aneurysms measuring ≤ 6 mm.

The evaluation of patients with unruptured intracranial aneurysms was published in JNIS by David Fiorella, MD, et al.

In these patients, the 1-year results demonstrated 0% aneurysm ruptures after WEB treatment, < 1% treatment-related morbidity, 0% device-related mortality, aneurysm recurrence of 6.4%, and retreatment rate of 2.5%. Additionally, there was 98% technical success and approximately 20-minute procedure times.
