Tractus Vascular’s Crossing Support Catheter with Jigsaw Technology Shaft Used in FIH Procedure
March 25, 2022—Tractus Vascular, LLC, announced the first-in-human (FIH) use of the company’s Tractus crossing support catheter (CSC) for the endovascular treatment of chronic total occlusion (CTO).
John H. Rundback, MD, and Kevin Herman, MD, of American Endovascular & Amputation Prevention in West Orange, New Jersey both used the Tractus CSC to treat several patients with challenging cases of critical limb ischemia including CTOs.
Dr. Rundback commented in the company’s press release, “The Tractus catheter tracked like ice and performed exceptionally well; the cases were all extremely successful.”
According to the company, the Tractus CSC has received FDA 510(k) clearance with 0.014-, 0.018-, and 0.035-inch guidewire compatibility and lengths of 90, 135, 155, and 170 cm.
Rather than a braided sheath, Tractus CSC is constructed using the company’s Jigsaw technology laser cut stainless steel shaft that consists of a continuous helical cut pattern forming interlocking teeth. Distal gusset cuts offer a continuous stainless-steel tip which extends the attributes of this novel catheter shaft.
The Jigsaw technology provides the company’s crossing devices with buckling resistance and push force, stated Tractus Vascular.
