Transcatheter Technologies to Introduce the Tumbao EVAR System

January 20, 2015—Transcatheter Technologies GmbH announced that it is expanding its product platform to include the Tumbao endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) device. The company has previously introduced a range of transcatheter valve implantation systems for heart valve therapy.

According to the company, the Tumbao provides precision-controlled expansion and anchoring of self-expanding nitinol stents for the treatment of complex aortic aneurysms. The system allows a stent to be repositioned or even retrieved. Additionally, a short version of Tumbao can seal endoleaks between an existing aortic stent and the native aortic wall.

The Tumbao EVAR system, as well as the company’s transcatheter Trinity aortic valve and Tresillo mitral valve systems, are not approved for sale or investigational use in the United States, advised Transcatheter Technologies.
