Transit Scientific’s XO Cath Microcatheter for Embolic Agent Delivery Cleared by FDA

November 30, 2023—Transit Scientific announced FDA 510(k) clearance of its XO Cath microcatheter designed for the precise delivery of a broad range of embolic agents during complex endovascular procedures.

According to Transit Scientific, the XO Cath microcatheter is designed to deliver new levels of trackability, torque response, and embolic compatibility for improved treatment delivery. The device’s metal-alloy construction is designed to offer unparalleled precision, translating to superior control over embolic material placement and ensuring optimal results in minimally invasive procedures.

The company advised that the FDA clearance includes the XO Cath 2F microcatheter with a 0.021-inch inner diameter (ID) for use with standard 0.014- and 0.018-inch guidewires and the XO Cath 2.6F microcatheter with a 0.027-inch ID for use with standard 0.014-, 0.018-, and 0.021-inch guidewires. Both microcatheters are offered with either a straight or bern-shaped tip and are available in 90-, 110-, 130-, 150-, 175-, and 220-cm working lengths for radial access procedures.

“This breakthrough technology could substantially improve the successful completion of embolic procedures,” commented Richard Saxon, MD, in the company’s press release. “Its trackability, precision, and embolic compatibility features will likely make a significant difference in patient care.” Dr. Saxon is an interventional radiologist at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, California.

Transit Scientific is a privately held Utah-based medical device developer. The company’s portfolio includes the FDA-cleared XO Cath, XO Score, and XO Cross platforms. The XO CS Constrain for peripheral and coronary procedures is in development.
