TriVascular's Ovation Abdominal Stent Graft System Launched in Europe

January 19, 2011—TriVascular, Inc. (Santa Rosa, CA) announced the European launch of the Ovation abdominal stent graft system at the Leipzig International Course (LINC) annual meeting in Leipzig, Germany. The company received CE Mark approval last year and initiated a pilot release. With a 14-F outside diameter, the Ovation's low profile allows for an expanded population of patients who are suitable for endovascular aortic repair (EVAR).

On January 20, at the LINC meeting, Michael Dake, MD, and Thomas Nolte, MD, will provide a summary of the Ovation clinical results, and Professor Dierk Scheinert, MD, will perform a live case using the Ovation abdominal stent graft system.

"Ovation represents a truly next-generation offering for EVAR,” commented Professor Scheinert. “The very low-profile system separates and optimizes the two most important requirements of EVAR: fixation and seal. We believe that this novel approach serves to expand the patient population that can benefit from minimally invasive aneurysm repair.”

Michael Dake, MD, added, “The clinical performance is quite compelling. Across three continents, and within a diverse mix of patients, Ovation has performed very well.”

In the United States, where the Ovation is an investigational device and is not approved for sale, TriVascular is conducting an investigational device exemption study to evaluate the device's safety and effectiveness.
